I wish to express gratitude for...

I wish to express gratitude for Christian Science and for our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, who gave to the world her revelation of this wonderful truth. When I first became interested in the study of this Science, I was a medical nurse and was employed by a national concern as a medical director for one of its departments. During the first three months of study I experienced a number of healings. Some of them were instantaneous; other problems took some length of time to solve.

One healing, for which I am deeply grateful, took place while I was at work. I was in my office alone, when I became suddenly disabled by an excruciating pain in the hips. I had had these attacks for about twelve years; and the doctors could not give me even temporary relief, much less diagnose the condition. They had expressed the belief that it was caused by deterioration of the bones. The pain was so severe that I could not rise from my chair.

As I tried to be still and pray, a thought came to me as if a voice had spoken, "You know what to do." I immediately reached for the telephone and called the Christian Science practitioner who had helped me before. He lovingly told me that such conditions arise only to be destroyed. Then he requested me to repeat understandingly "the scientific statement of being" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 468), which I did, and he worked for me in Christian Science. In about fifteen minutes I was completely free. This place over twelve years ago, and I have never had another attack.
