I have had many proofs of the efficacy of Christian Science healing, one of which I wish to relate. In the middle of one night I awakened with such congestion that I could no longer get my breath while lying in bed. I arose and sat in a chair, declaring the words of Hymn No. 144 in the Christian Science Hymnal,

In atmosphere of Love divine,
We live, and move, and breathe.

I then declared that all action is spiritual and harmonious, also that there is no sensation in matter and no obstruction in Mind.

The question occurred to me, What do we believe breathing to be? I knew the answer to be that breathing is inspiration of pure air and expiration of impure air. Then I translated this explanation into the mental realm. There inspiration becomes the taking in of pure thoughts, and expiration is the cast ing out of impure or erroneous thoughts.

I asked myself, "From what source do we receive the good we take in to purify our consciousness?" Then the Bible verse came to me (James 1:17), "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning."

In a flash man's unchanging perfection dawned in my thought, and I was free. For this instantaneous healing, I am deeply grateful, because it proved the speed with which the body will respond to right, spiritual thinking. This testimony would not be complete without a word of deep gratitude to God for giving us our Way-shower, Christ Jesus, and the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mrs. Eddy.—(Miss) Violet H.
