WHAT DO WE SEE?

Every day brings glorious opportunities for clearer views of spiritual truth, which, when observed and utilized in a Christianly scientific way, enable one to do the works that Christ Jesus did. Mary Baker Eddy writes in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 475), "Man is spiritual and perfect; and because he is spiritual and perfect, he must be so understood in Christian Science." She also says (ibid., p. 428), "The great spiritual fact must be brought out that man is, not shall be, perfect and immortal."

As we comprehend the full import of the truths set forth in Mrs. Eddy's inspired writings and apply them, we find that our daily experience can be one of peace and joy, health and prosperity. It is a mistake, or sin, to believe that any evil is attached to or is a part of God's likeness, man. The Bible states (Gen. 1:31), "God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good." Therefore evil, the opposite of good, is never a product or quality of God. It is merely an incorrect mortal belief, a misconception or illusion, about God or about His perfect creation. It appears to exist only as long as a belief in it continues.

Habakkuk says of God (1:13), "Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity." Therefore God's true image, man, cannot look upon iniquity either, and it is our duty never to accept as veritable any suggestion or evidence of evil as belonging to ourselves or to anyone else.
