My first healing in Christian Science...

My first healing in Christian Science was that of appendicitis. I was working at a charitable home for children in the city where I live. A medical doctor was called to see one of the children in the home, and after his visit with the child, I told him of a pain which I had felt for some time. Learning of the location of the pain, he told me that I had appendicitis and that I must have an operation for it, or I would not live.

A friend who was a Christian Scientist worked at the same place with me. I told her what the doctor had said and declared that I did not know what to do, because I had two little children to care for and did not want to die and leave them. She said, "If you feel that way about it, why don't you try Christian Science?"

I asked her what Christian Science was, and she said she would go with me to see a practitioner. We both went, and the practitioner prayed for me. When I left her office, I felt perfectly well and so uplifted that I knew something wonderful had taken place. I was healed then, and in more than forty years since that time I have had no return of the difficulty. My children have been raised in Christian Science, and they have been protected and healed, sometimes by my own prayers and sometimes with the help of a practitioner.
