"GREEN PASTURES"

The Psalmist was speaking of spiritual refreshment when he said of God, our Shepherd (Ps. 23:2), "He maketh me to lie down in green pastures." How often we need "green pastures," fresh views of life, or even fresher aspects of the good already known, in order to quicken our lives spiritually. And divine Love brings such refreshment through Christian Science.

Mary Baker Eddy found great refreshment when she discovered this Science. She writes in "Retrospection and Introspection" (pp. 27, 28), "The divine hand led me into a new world of light and Life, a fresh universe—old to God, but new to His 'little one.'" She goes on to say, "It became evident that the divine Mind alone must answer, and be found as the Life, or Principle, of all being; and that one must acquaint himself with God, if he would be at peace."

Our Leader's meekness, her willingness to learn more of God, opened her spiritual eyes to see the beauty and light and peace of Spirit surrounding her. This view of the real creation impelled her to continue exercising spiritual sense to behold what is real and to deny the evidence of the physical senses, which present a false and limited view of everyone and everything.
