HUMILITY

Once the writer was asked, "What is the quality in divine Mind of which humility is the human expression?" His study of the Bible and the writings of Mary Baker Eddy made him able to answer this rather pointed question. He saw that humility is a natural consequence of an awareness of God's allness and a recognition of the nothingness of material life and intelligence.

The very allness of God precludes any opposite being. It is before this infinite divine Principle that the mortal sense must bow its head. It was Moses' humility that opened the way to understanding God as the great I AM, the Soul of man, and as the ever-present intelligence that guides each step of progress out of bondage into freedom.

When Paul humbly asked (Acts 9:6), "Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? the door to his great ministry was opened. Speaking of Jesus, Mrs. Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 52): "The 'man of sorrows' best understood the nothingness of material life and intelligence and the mighty actuality of all-inclusive God, good. These were the two cardinal points of Mind-healing, or Christian Science, which armed him with Love."
