"He sent his word, and healed them" (Ps. 107:20). When Christian Science was first brought to my attention I was in great need of healing. The testimonies in the periodicals seemed very remarkable to me, but I could not understand how a change of thought could heal a spinal deformity such as the one from which I was suffering.

For years I had known constant, severe pain, for which many different kinds of treatment had been tried. After various steel supports had been worn, and I had twice resorted to surgery, I was told that nothing more could be done for me. During part of this time I suffered also from a kidney difficulty. After a year of very painful treatments for this condition, I decided to stop them.

Then I turned to Christian Science and began attending the church services. A testimony given the first time I attended a Wednesday evening testimony meeting in a Church of Christ, Scientist, aroused my thought, and I began to read Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy.
