"Share Thy joy and spend it....
"Share Thy joy and spend it freely." These words from Hymn No. 58 in the Christian Science Hymnal were an inspiration to my mother at a time when we had little to spend materially. The power of Truth in these words and in the authorized literature of Christian Science was clearly evidenced, for we enjoyed abundant happiness and freedom from want in our home.
For a number of years I had the opportunity of attending a Christian Science Sunday School. During my naval service, however, I realized that simply registering oneself as a Christian Scientist was not sufficient.
To be a Christian Scientist, I must practice in thought and deed the rules laid down in the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. In this way only could the practical value of our religion be proved. The healing works in themselves would constitute my answer to the question, "Why are you a Christian Scientist?"
