With a heart overflowing with...

With a heart overflowing with gratitude for Christian Science, I wish to testify to the many blessings which have come to me. While I was a student in high school, a neighbor lent me a copy of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy. Although I understood but a few sentences, the chapter entitled "Fruitage" greatly impressed me. When I had finished reading the book, I found that I was healed of failing eyesight.

Years later, while I was practicing as a medical nurse, there was always a conflict in my thinking between the ever-changing inconsistencies of materia medica and the harmonious never-changing Principle of Christian Science, which I occasionally studied.

During this confused and unhappy period in my work as a public health nurse, it was necessary for me to cross the Mojave Desert for the first time. My sister, who was interested in Christian Science, accompanied me and my small son. At that time, years ago, the desert roads were very poor and often undefined. Owing to detours and lack of signs, we became hopelessly lost in the desert. Finally the wheels of the car sank in the sand, and the engine stalled.
