REALIZING PERFECTION

Many who read Christ Jesus' command (Matt. 5:48), "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect," put it aside as unattainable. While conscious of an inner longing for perfection, they may feel that this concept is too high, too ideal, for them to reach; therefore their attempts to obey these loving words of our Masters are feeble and sporadic.

Mary Baker Eddy carefully explains in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" the fundamentals which make this command of the Master's natural and reasonable. On page 518, she quotes from the Bible (Gen.1:31): "And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day."

Mrs. Eddy then says, "The divine Principle or Spirit, comprehends and expresses all, and all must therefore be as perfect as the divine Principle is perfect." Thus Mrs. Eddy urges us, as did Jesus, to realize the God-given perfection of our spiritual individuality and to manifest this perfection in daily living.
