I shall be forever grateful that Christian Science found me; for when it did, I found myself, as the following experience will confirm.

Up to the time I received my first healing, I knew almost nothing about this Science. I had never attended a Christian Science, church service and had never heard of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Although I had read one article in a Sentinel in order to please a friend who knew of my need, I must confess that the contents did not make an impression on my unreceptive thought.

I had become addicted to the drinking habit in my youth. As a result I grew to be a chronic alcoholic. Occasionally I would quit the habit for as much as a year, only to succumb to the temptation again: and the struggle to overcome it would begin all over again.
