"TRIALS ARE PROOFS OF GOD'S CARE"

Many people wonder why mankind must endure trials when it is written in the first chapter of the Bible that "God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good" (Gen. 1:31). Ignorance of God is the cause of all earthly trials. The true knowledge of God and His creation, including man, brings harmony into our experience.

Christ Jesus, who passed through many trials as the result of others' sins, said (John 8:32), "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." He understood that God is Spirit and that man is His likeness; hence that man is spiritual, and not material.

The Master knew that the Christ, his spiritual selfhood, was impervious to the trials of materiality; and it was his withdrawal to this higher selfhood which enabled him to demonstrate the nothingness or unreality of everything unlike good. His mastery over sin, sickness, death, lack, limitation, storms, and trials proved the soundness of his theology.
