In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy says (p. 182): "Mind's government of the body must supersede the so-called laws of matter. Obedience to material law prevents full obedience to spiritual law,—the law which overcomes material conditions and puts matter under the feet of Mind."

One night I was awakened by a severe digestive disturbance which continued for some time. When morning came I arose and went to business as usual. During the morning the condition became very distressing and necessitated my returning home at noon. On arriving at home I got in touch with a practitioner, who gave me immediate help.

I found it necessary to go to bed, but during the afternoon I opened "Rudimental Divine Science" by our Leader, Mrs. Eddy. My eyes rested on this simple but powerful challenge (p.11): "In a moment you may awake from a night-dream; just so you can awake from the dream of sickness." In a few moments I felt more normal, and a little later I was able to get up and go to a meeting which I felt was necessary for me to attend.
