My prayer is for an understanding heart that I may help others gain their freedom as I have gained mine. My first testimony appeared in The Christian Science Journal for March, 1947. It told of a wonderful healing I had had of alcoholism after spending some time in several sanatoriums and being told by doctors that there was no cure for me whatsoever and that I could not live long. From my own experience I can truthfully say that Christian Science can heal anything when it is rightly applied.

When this wonderful truth that Mary Baker Eddy gave to the world came into my life in 1938, never did I realize how free and happy I would be and what joy I would find in serving in church activities. My business picked up, and I became the leading salesman west of the Mississippi River in my line of work. My business is still good, for I use Christian Science in it every day and know there is really only one business, and that is God's business.

I wish to express gratitude for a healing of constipation and sick headaches. This took place shortly after I stopped drinking and smoking. I thank God for the protection I have received while traveling and for beautiful healings of grief when loved ones have passed on. These are just a few of the many blessings that have come into my life through the study of Christian Science. For me to say that I am grateful is not nearly enough. It is my desire to prove it through service in the Cause of Christian Science, the God-sent message of true healing.—Emerson George Bateman, Portland, Oregon.
