Confidence versus Fear

Today it is literally true, as Jesus said it would be, that all around us "men's hearts [are] failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth" (Luke 21: 26).

Let us be frank. Fear is sin, for it grievously dishonors God. It means that we don't trust Him, that we think He may let us down, or that He is angry or too busy to notice our needs, or "peradventure he sleepeth, and must be awaked."
