Every reading of Science and Health brings new healing, new inspiration

BY YOUR CONTINUAL COMING

In teaching his disciples to pray, the Way-shower, Christ Jesus, gave two interesting parables that show the inevitable fruitage from diligent and unceasing efforts. These two accounts are recorded in Luke. The first tells of a man going to a friend at midnight to borrow bread for an unexpected guest. The friend protests that he cannot help him out because he and his family have retired. However, the parable continues (Luke 11:8), "I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth."

Again, Jesus presented the parable of the widow who appealed to an unrighteous judge for justice. Her perseverance after the judge had at first ignored her plea brought the following result (Luke 18:4, 5): "Afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me."

There are many other accounts in the Bible which show that even when healings have not been instantaneous, patient and diligent efforts to understand and apply the truth have proved Truth always victorious. As the deeper significance of the Bible accounts is revealed to us through the study of the inspired pages of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, their applicability to our present-day experiences unfolds to us. We are led to see that the power which sustained these early pioneers is present today, and that we not only can but must prove this power available and practical.
