Fear of reciting at school overcome

"Praise ye the Lord

"Praise ye the Lord. O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good" (Ps. 106:1). It was many years ago that our family was introduced to Christian Science when my grandmother was healed of a severe case of neuritis through the application of this Science. That I had the privilege of being enrolled in a Christian Science Sunday School from an early age, I shall always be grateful. The lessons and rules learned there have been a great help to me in demonstrating the omnipotence of God in meeting every human need.

I am grateful for the overcoming of shyness and fear of reciting in the classroom or appearing in public. John says, "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear" (I John 4:18). We learn in Christian Science that fear is but a man-made and temporal belief; it has no power, existence, or control over God's perfect idea or reflection, man. Fear of speaking in public has been mastered to the extent that I now do public speaking professionally.

When visiting a dentist at one time, I was told that it would be necessary that I secure a brace for my teeth. Work was begun in Christian Science to bring our consciousness into harmony with the fact that man is "the conscious identity of being as found in Science, in which man is the reflection of God, or Mind, and therefore is eternal" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 475). On my next visit to the dentist, he expressed surprise that my teeth had straightened themselves and that the brace would not be necessary after all.
