Healing of influenza and broken bone

It is with a heart filled with...

It is with a heart filled with gratitude to God and to our revered Leader, Mary Beker Eddy, that I write this testimony. For some twenty-five years the truth taught in Christian Science has been the help and stay of my family; it has been our healer in sickness and our help in need.

During the influenza epidemic at the close of the First World War, my mother was stricken. A friend gave me the name of a Christian Science practitioner whom I did not know, but when I called on the telephone and explained the need for help, it was instantly given, and within ten minutes thereafter my mother fell into the first sleep she had had for over a week. Within two days she was completely recovered and was able to resume her household duties. I was much impressed by the impersonal method of the treatment, for though the practitioner had never heard of us, still the healing work was done, proving the truth of the Biblical statement (Ps. 107:20), "He sent his word, and healed them."

I was completely healed of a fistula which was the result of a rectal operation and which had been troubling me for six years. This healing resulted solely through the study of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I am also grateful for the healing of a broken bone. After I was taken to a hospital, the surgeon applied a steel brace to hold the bone in place. He told me I would have to wear the brace for at least six weeks. Under Christian Science treatment the break was completely healed, and the brace was removed within half that time. Through the application of Christian Science I have been beautifully guided by divine Love in business matters and in seeking a dwelling. I have had great protection many times when it was necessary for me to drive a car during dangerous driving conditions.
