Gratitude expressed for spiritual understanding

I deem it a glorious privilege to express briefly my gratitude for the spiritual understanding gained through my study of Christian Science.

On numerous occasions during my earlier years my attention was drawn to this Science. Although there was a constant yearning and striving to understand the real purpose of the human span of years with its joys and sorrows, I gave no thought to the benefits which I might derive from studying Science. By the time I had reached maturity, life had assumed a very serious aspect, and I endeavored to gain a better understanding of God and to make more practical the truths contained in the Scriptures. I was then living in the Pacific Northwest. My father had recently passed on, and I had the opportunity to establish a home for my mother. We took up residence in another state, entirely among strangers.

My mother was suffering greatly from ill-health and frequent distressing attacks of asthma. Soon after we moved into our new home, while I was away during the day in a business office, she became acquainted with a neighbor who was a Christian Scientist. I was some time before I learned that my mother was diligently studying Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. Since she was a practical person and did not quickly embrace new theories, I was sure that I wanted to investigate for myself this much-talked-of religion. I can truthfully say that my mother was literally "transformed by the renewing of [her] mind" (Rom. 12:2), as the Scriptures teach. For seventeen years she enjoyed excellent health and brought sunshine to her family and to all who knew her.
