I should like to testify to my first healing in Christian Science.

Just before the war I nurshed my mother and an aunt, who were both suffering from cancer. They both passed on. At the same time I was suffering with internal trouble myself and was advised by the doctor to have a major operation, which I did. Things went well for a time, and then the same condition returned. I was very fearful. I did not want to go into the hospital again; neither did I want my friends to know. I did not want their sympathy, because I knew their first thought would be that my trouble was the same as my mother's.

At that time I was working at a place where about sixty people were employed. Now to me it seems a remarkable thing that out of all those people only one person asked me what was the matter with me and why I looked so worried, and that person was the only one there who knew anything about Christian Science. She listened to what I had to say, then said: "Why don't you try Christian Science? My mother gets a lot of comfort from that church when she is worried."
