Right understanding of God gives dominion over inharmony

In her Message to The Mother Church for 1902 Mary Baker Eddy says (p. 4), "Our thoughts of the Bible utter our lives." The Bible teaches us of God; so may we not with equal correctness say, "Our thoughts of God utter our lives"?

The Bible contains many instances of miraculous deliverance coming to individuals or nations because their thoughts were filled with faith in God. The Bible also shows that those who put their trust in false gods found these gods utterly powerless to deliver in time of need.

Much of the distress, lack, and ill-health in the world has sprung from a false concept of God, from ignorance of His nature and character. Since the time of Jesus' teachings, the acceptance of false doctrines and opinions regarding Deity has obscured the Christ-message. Hence those in need of healing and regeneration, not understanding the tenderness and love of God, have believed that their suffering was sent of Him as a chastisement for some sin which they had committed, but of which they were not even aware.
