I am humbly grateful to Christian Science for revealing the ever-presence of God, to whom we can turn with trust in every emergency.

One Saturday in June, 1935, my sister and I were returning from London by the night express, when our train crashed head on into the rear of another. Amid the confusion and fear of the moment, there was no time for mental argument, but I remember turning wholeheartedly to God, knowing He would take care of us. A great sense of peace filled my consciousness, and never again during the experience did I fear.

I knew nothing more until I heard my sister call my name twice, asking where I was and if I were free and could get out. Marvelous to relate, we were both on top of the wreckage, the only ones who were, so far as we could see, and we were fairly close to each other, and quite free. Our first action was to thank God for our escape. We were both injured, and my injuries seemed serious. I was hurt in the back, and could not sit up nor stand. There were three gashes on one leg and multiple bruises. We were taken, along with others, to a cottage hospital near by. The doctor there thought I should pass on during the night, but neither my sister nor I had any such thought.
