A speaker, quoted in a recent issue, in discussing theosophy, apparently implied that Christian Science was connected with Oriental philosophies. For the benefit of your readers, who should be correctly informed, please permit me to state that such an implication is untrue.

The first tenet of Christian Science is: "As adherents of Truth, we take the inspired Word of the Bible as our sufficient guide to eternal Life" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 497). Mrs. Eddy, in denouncing an earlier misstatement, said (No and Yes, p. 13), "No greater opposites can be conceived of, physically, morally, and spiritually, than Christian Science, spiritualism, and theosophy."
