Peace on Earth
What a glorious day it will be for mankind when all people unite in shifting the emphasis of thought and action from hatred, strife, and dissension to peace and brotherly love, thus making definite progress in attaining the ideal of Christianity, "On earth peace, good will toward men"! Micah visioned such a victory when he said, "They shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more."
At no time should we neglect preparing our hearts for peace. Even in the midst of trying circumstances, wars, rumors of wars, conflicts, and fears, we can lift our thought above mortal evidence and material claims and contend for spiritual peace and true progress. Surely as each one becomes more alert to his duty to work for genuine peace in his individual experience he will help waken the world to seek true peace. Individual awakening hastens spiritual progress for all mankind.
Christian Scientists recognize the teachings of Christ Jesus and of Christian Science as revealing God's plan for peace on earth. They accept the responsibility of demonstrating peace in their individual experience, and of praying humbly and perseveringly for world peace. They purify their thinking, striving to express only good in their own lives, and throw the weight of their spiritual thinking into the scale of universal progress.
