In a recent issue, a leading news article carried this statement: "As more and more grippe victims took to their beds today, every Protestant church in the city canceled Sunday school sessions."
Your readers may be interested to know that First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Concord, has not canceled its Sunday school sessions, nor has it any intention of taking such action.
Christian Science teaches that an understanding of spiritual law, taught and illustrated in the Bible, heals the sick; and the purpose of both church services and Sunday school classes of this denomination is to increase such spiritual understanding. Therefore, to close the doors of the Sunday school in times of stress would tend to deprive its attendants to that extent of the remedy they need to combat disease. The Bible says it is God who "healeth all thy diseases." The good gained in the Sunday school is shared equally by adults and children, for teachers and pupils seek together this spiritual understanding; even the smallest children display a remarkable aptitude for grasping the simple healing truths of the Scriptures.
