"I thank Thee, Father, I thank Thee."
"I thank Thee, Father, I thank Thee." This song of gratitude has come to my consciousness many times recently. The months have been filled with the unfolding of so much of the happiness, joy, and true satisfaction that is God's purpose for His children. Since taking up the study of Christian Science, my son and I have had many physical healings. My own healings have included those of rheumatism, blood poisoning, and broken arches.
One experience that stands out in my thought is the loving guidance and protection I had during the months I struggled with what is called a nervous breakdown. During these months it was necessary for me to continue with my work in a store in one of our large cities. I can never be grateful enough for the practitioner's steadfast allegiance to the absolute truths of Christian Science and for her wisdom in insisting that I be in my place every day. Although I questioned that wisdom many times during those trying months, I know now that the healing came through this absolute reliance on and obedience to the truths of Christian Science.
When my son was five years of age, he began to have bilious attacks. He always received prompt relief through Christian Science treatment, but about once a year he would have another. One day when he was twelve, I returned from downtown to find him home from school. He explained that he had been taken ill at school and had been sent home. Then he added simply, "I came home and read the Thanksgiving Lesson in the Quarterly and I am well." His healing has been permanent. The same young man had a complete healing of blood poisoning in Christian Science.
