"What went ye out for to see?"

OUR Master gave the searching question, "What went ye out for to see?"—a question which we should frequently ask ourselves. Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, has emphasized throughout her writings the importance of watching our thinking. On page 451 of her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," she writes, "Man walks in the direction towards which he looks, and where his treasure is, there will his heart be also."

Are we looking for progress in our daily experiences? Are we expecting continual unfoldment of good? If so, we shall not accept the suggestions which are pouring forth from mortal mind constantly, such as that disease must run its course; that age beliefs and decrepitude have a claim on us, and prevent us from expressing our rightful activity in human affairs; that supply is limited; that we are bereaved, or that we have lost all courage, hope, and interest in life.

Let us consider some of these suggestions and, looking through the lens of Spirit, find out how to silence them through declaring the spiritual facts of being as revealed in Christian Science. The so-called laws of physiology can be annulled when we realize that truth, the bread of Life, feeds, nourishes; that divine Love, as it is demonstrated, protects, and by destroying false thinking and material sense testimony, maintains right concepts and the evidence of perfection, refreshes with the beauty of Soul; that God, divine Mind, governs, and maintains man's oneness with Him.
