I was acquainted with Christian Science from childhood, but, like many young people, gave it little heed until I found myself facing difficulties.

When I was a young woman, I was instantaneously healed of blood boils. I had been in great pain, and at the recommendation of a friend I visited a Christian Science practitioner. The pain entirely left within ten minutes, and the boils disappeared in two days without even opening. This healing took place over seventeen years ago, and there has never been a return of the difficulty in any form. I did not think I needed Christian Science any more after that, and forgot about it. When things are running smoothly, we often feel too busy and satisfied with our material interests to think of aught else.

About ten years later, pleurisy presented itself, and after six months of doctoring, light treatments, and so forth, I was no better. One evening I was at the home of a relative who is a student of Christian Science. I was still suffering with every breath. This kind woman took me aside and spoke a few words to me, denying the existence of all but God. That denial brought an instantaneous healing. The pain left me immediately, even before I joined the others in the living room, and not a trace of it has ever returned.
