Mrs. Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 276): "The realization that all inharmony is unreal brings objects and thoughts into human view in their true light, and presents them as beautiful and immortal. Harmony in man is as real and immortal as in music." There is no doubt in my mind that the blessings related in the following testimony came as an answer to fervent prayer that I might be guided to a brighter outlook for my family.

Seventeen years ago I came to California from Canada with my wife and two children. I was suffering from myalgia, sciatica, rheumatism, lumbago, and hernia, some of which were attributed to exposure when in Flanders with the Canadian forces during the World War. Also nervousness and annoying aches and pains were being endured as an aftermath of gunshot wounds. When recommending my honorable discharge from the army in 1917, both army and civilian surgeons said that it was hard for a man of my age to throw off these troubles.

It appeared to be difficult to find someone suitable who would be financially interested in marketing a useful product which I had to offer, one which had found a good market in Canada; consequently, depleted funds added to my anxieties. A very dear friend had received Christian Science assistance and advised me to attend a Christian Science church and see a practitioner. My family and I had hitherto attended an orthodox church, and thought it the only right religion. After due deliberation, just to humor one so solicitous for the welfare of the family, my wife and I went to a Wednesday evening testimony meeting. It was a very enjoyable and impressive service. Soon after this I drove to the city to keep an appointment with a Christian Science practitioner. After parking the car I was seized with sciatica. A descent down some steps was finished only with very painful difficulty, and with kindly assistance from a stranger the practitioner's office was reached.
