With the hope that it may help someone, I give this testimony. It is only four years since I came from darkness into the light of Christian Science. For five years I had been under constant care of doctors. I had also spent some time in veterans' hospital, but to no avail. My mother passed on from tuberculosis, and the doctor said that I had the same trouble; I also had a goiter, and sometimes choked for hours at a time. I had constipation for twenty years. On the eighth of April, 1936, the doctor declared that I could live only three more weeks, that my lungs were gone, and that I had liver and bowel trouble, which would never be healed because the operation which was thought necessary was out of the question.

A few days later, Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy came to me. My wife got the book from a Christian Scientist, to whom I am very grateful today. At first I refused to read it, but finally took it up to see what it taught. I am grateful to God that I did this, for it opened my blind eyes. I read a few pages and fell asleep, the first good sleep I had had for many months. Two days later I went to see a Christian Science practitioner; and I shall never forget her comforting words. I was healed immediately of tuberculosis; my coughing stopped right then, never to return, and I felt as strong as I had ever felt. I weighed only ninety pounds, but I gained weight rapidly. A week later I had another attack from the goiter and commenced to choke. My wife called the practitioner, and before she returned from the telephone, about fifteen minutes later, I was healed. Within a year the constipation was entirely overcome. I am now in excellent health. I had used tobacco, whisky, wine, and beer all my life, but after my first treatment from a practitioner I had no further wish for them. Two months later the desire for tea and coffee was overcome.

Christian Science has made me better mentally, spiritually, morally, and physically. My wife was healed of a large tumor and constipation, and she is very grateful for this healing. Our children have been healed of many ailments. I am very grateful to God, to Christian Science, to Mary Baker Eddy for discovering this great truth, and to the practitioner who stood by me so unselfishly and lovingly.
