Among the Churches

Current Notes

Opelousas, Louisiana (First Church).—Immediately following a beautiful and impressive service on Sunday, March 3, 1940, at which service Christian Science Society was dedicated as First Church of Christ, Scientist, Opelousas, Louisiana, the church was presented with a lovely gift—a beautiful piano.

Since a Christian Science church is dedicated only after all indebtendness has been paid, every effort was made toward this end, and with the assistance of the Trustees under the Will of Mary Baker Eddy that progressive step has been taken, for which the members are unspeakably grateful. The dedication service was well attended.—The Daily World.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin (Third Church).—On March 31, 1940, members of Third Church of Christ, Scientist, Milwaukee, dedicated their edifice at 2915 North Sherman Boulevard, in which they have been worshiping for years, but which could not be dedicated earlier because it was not entirely free of debt. It is a custom with Christian Scientists to dedicate a church only after it has been entirely freed of financial obligations.
