I would thank you for space to correct a reference to Christian Science in an article in a recent issue. This article speaks of "the attempt to ignore the body altogether, and to treat it as a delusion, as in Christian Science."

Those who have had anything to do with sick people who are under Christian Science treatment, know how well they are cared for and how their trust in God's love and protection is encouraged. Christian Scientists know that there are not two powers, Spirit and matter, good and evil, but one power, one God omnipresent and omnipotent—the creator of the spiritual universe.

The assurance of God's allness is reached through prayer, study, right living. The Christian Scientist does not ignore the needs of the body, but Christian Science does show the necessity of denying the arguments or suggestions of the "carnal mind," which would have the "whole head sick and the whole heart faint," and which would limit in every direction. God's command was that man have dominion. By affirming God's power and denying the arguments of evil, we prove the statement in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy (p. 242), "Denial of the claims of matter is a great step towards the joys of Spirit, towards human freedom and the final triumph over body."
