In a recent issue a correspondent, in speaking of the Bible, makes a statement which might lead one to believe that Christian Scientists have a separate and distinct Bible from other denominations. This is not a fact. In his daily study of the Scriptures, a Christian Scientist uses the King James Version of the Bible. The Christian Scientist uses as his textbooks both the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science.

Christian Scientists have no religious creed, yet there are six religious tenets of Christian Science, the first of which reads as follows (Science and Health, p. 497): "As adherents of Truth, we take the inspired Word of the Bible as our sufficient guide to eternal Life;" and the sixth tenet is: "And we solemnly promise to watch, and pray for that Mind to be in us which was also in Christ Jesus; to do unto others as we would have them do unto us; and to be merciful, just, and pure."

I would appreciate your giving this letter consideration. We should like our friends to know that Christian Scientists use the Scriptures in their church services and in their daily studies because they know they are the Word of God.
