The image of the Father is not fettered;
His pure reflection is forever free.
Your chains, sin-forged, the Father's love has riven,
His likeness dwells not in captivity.
And you are His. Nor hate nor sin attending
Can hold you fast or blast your life's fair fame.
He gave you life, endowed you with love's power;
He bids you call upon His holy name.
Look up, dear one, look up and claim your sonship;
Remember Paul and Silas in the stocks.
Oh, trust and know that sin cannot condemn you,
No bolts so strong but love the door unlocks.
You have your work. He never will desert you.
He gives you grace sufficient for the cause
For which He called you. Brother, heed the summons;
Arise, stand forth, obey His holy laws!
