My attention has been called to a recent issue in which appears an article containing the following statement: "Faith-Healing gradually developed into what is known as Christian Science." As this is misleading, I should greatly appreciate it if you would publish this correction.

Christian Science is defined by its Discoverer and Founder, Mary Baker Eddy, as "the law of God, the law of good, interpreting and demonstrating the divine Principle and rule of universal harmony" (Rudimental Divine Science, p. 1). Healing in Christian Science results from the understanding of God as unchanging Love and as the only cause, power, intelligence, and Lawmaker. In the Bible it is stated that "God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good." Affirming the truth of the perfection of God's creation understandingly has healing power; but spiritual healing is not the result of suggestions emanating from the human mind. In his epistle to the Romans, Paul writes, “The carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be." Christian Scientists understand God to be the only Mind, the Mind that was in Christ Jesus. It is prayerful affirmation of man's unity with this Mind that results in Christian Science healing, which, Mrs. Eddy says (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 185), "excludes the human mind as a spiritual factor in the healing work."
