The Psalmist says, "He sent from above, he took me, he...
The Psalmist says, "He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters." This was proved true in my experience more than fifteen years ago. When I first heard of Christian Science I was, figuratively speaking, in deep waters. I was suffering from extreme nervousness, mental depression, and goiter; also, my husband was out of work. One night, quite discouraged, I knelt down by the bed and prayed, asking God to make me well, believing at that time that God knew sickness as well as health. A few weeks later I first heard of Christian Science, and from that time on it has been my only help. We have used this truth all these years and, when rightly applied, it has never failed.
I had had the goiter since childhood, and had been treated by several doctors, but I had not been healed. However, it just faded away while I was "absent from the body" and "Present with Lord," that is, while I was reading and filling my thoughts with Christian Science. We have had many problems to overcome, but they have all been solved when we have counted our blessing and seen how far along the road to the full understanding of God they have led us.
Two healings I should like to relate; one took place years ago, and the other more recently. The first healing meant a great deal to us, for at the time I did not know very much about Christian Science. One night our little son became quite ill with a fever and cold. I worked for a while, but decided to call a practitioner. On the way to the telephone the words came to me clearly, "Tonight you will see the salvation of the Lord;" then I remembered Mrs. Eddy's definition of "salvation" (Science and Health, p. 593), "Life, Truth, and Love understood and demonstrated as supreme over all; sin, sickness, and death destroyed." I called the practitioner, and the next morning the child was well.
