"Awake thou that sleepest"
"AWAKE thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light." These inspiring words written by Paul to the Ephesians contain a message for all mankind throughout all time. How truly do mortals need to awake to the truth that sets free, and to "arise from the dead" by throwing off the claims arising from ignorance!
The purpose of Christian Science is to rouse mortals to the vital reality of man's true being, to a keen and vivid awareness of God's presence and power, and to an understanding of the laws of Spirit. Many Christian Scientists will attest the fact that a clear discernment of truth is, in effect, an arising from the dead, because their lives have been changed from darkness to light.
If one were to judge only by appearances, according to what he could learn through the five material senses, he would never know anything of spiritual reality. Yet through the inspired vision of the prophets and that of our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, we have access to the knowledge that reveals the glorious realm of Spirit as the only reality, and God as supreme over all.
