Christian Science has been my only physician for over...
Christian Science has been my only physician for over twenty years. It has been of untold value to me in rearing children and contributing toward domestic harmony. At times the way has seemed unbearable, but always I have been able to look to divine Love for strength.
Shortly after becoming interested in Science, I found I had many things to be healed of, and I still have, but the passing years have been softened by willingness to learn the better way.
One incident stands out in my thought as my first decisive step in progress. About nineteen years ago, when I was expecting a child, I quickly decided to place myself in God's hands and refuse all material aid. It seemed best to go to the home of my mother for my confinement, a distance of several hundred miles, which necessitated an all-night journey alone on the train. During the latter part of the night, I was suddenly assailed by a great sense of fear. At this point, I recalled a Scriptural promise, "Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared." I held to this passage persistently. The seemingly overwhelming fear was quelled, and I fell asleep. I awakened at six o'clock and sat up in bed, and began to read the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly. As I pondered the statements contained in our textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, also the Bible citations, the fear left me again, and I was at peace. When I reached my destination, my relatives were there to meet me. I realized with gratitude that the promise had been literally fulfilled for me that night. I was safe with loved ones, and all was well.
