"Nothing wavering"

In Christian Science we learn that there is, in reality, only one Mind, one infinite divine intelligence, and that this Mind, which is God, is forever manifested through man. Job declared the steadfast purpose of God when he said: "He is in one mind, and who can turn him? and what his soul desireth, even that he doeth."

Men too often waver in their decisions and purposes. Individuals may hold to one point of view and to one decision at one time, and shift to another point of view and question the wisdom of their decision at another time. The very purpose of an individual may seem divided, so that he appears to have two minds, pulling in opposite directions.

Jesus, when he met "the tempter" in the wilderness, had to deal with this belief in more than one mind. He had seen "the heavens" opened, and "the Spirit of God descending like a dove" upon him, and had heard "a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased;" yet evil suggestions were now presenting themselves to him. He promptly dismissed the error, and evil fled before his declarations of Truth.
