"Having done all, to stand"

To the student of Christian Science, Paul's admonition to the early Christian church in Ephesus is most helpful: "Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand."

Ushers in a Christian Science church accept and stand for the demonstrable revelation of Truth in this age by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. In standing for Christian Science, which Mrs. Eddy defines as "the law of God, the law of good, interpreting and demonstrating the divine Principle and rule of universal harmony" (Rudimental Divine Science, p. 1), each church member is acknowledging his at-one-ment with his Father-Mother God, and endeavoring to follow in the footsteps of the Master.

The work of an usher begins in earnest, prayerful preparation for the duty before him, clearing his thought of inharmony of any sort, and with the conscious recognition that the church service is designed for the glory of God and the spiritual guidance of humanity.
