The Deathless Word

Our Master drew apart from men,
From urgent human touch
That voiced its sad, insistent tale
With witness overmuch.

He sought to be alone with God
To learn His holy will
And drink anew at wisdom's fount,
On Judah's starlit hill.

He taught his brethren happiness,
The heritage of all
Who truly seek the kingdom first
And heed the tender call—

The call of Spirit for its own
To enter in and claim
The joys of pure possession in
A son's untarnished name.

Our Saviour both by law and works
Revealed the might of good
To loose the heart from bitterness
When Truth is understood.

He showed the falsity of sin,
Of sickness, doubt, and fear,
And proved to those that walked alone
The Father's presence near.

Throughout all time the message stands
For those by faith inclined,
Of man made perfect, free, and whole,
The image of one Mind.

Our Lord went up to pray, and Love
His soul's deep summons heard;
And in this blest companionship
He caught the deathless Word.
