I am sincerely and humbly grateful for Christian Science
I am sincerely and humbly grateful for Christian Science. I am grateful to Mrs. Eddy, who through her love and untiring efforts has given mankind the revelation of Truth which frees us from the so-called laws of sin, disease, and death; for The Mother Church and all its activities, especially the Publishing Society and the Board of Lectureship; for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, and for the branch church activities, especially the church services and the Reading Rooms; for practitioners who lovingly and faithfully have showed me the way from sense to Soul; for the blessed privilege of class instruction; and for the scientific revelation of the Christ.
Christian Science found me in a state of semi-invalidism, having to spend much of my time in bed for about sixteen years. By earnest study and through the help of practitioners, I was guided out of the wilderness. I had to learn to let go of my material thinking and let good into my consciousness. Thoughts of jealousy, envy, hatred, selfishness, and self-condemnation had to be put out of my consciousness, and replaced by kindness, humility, love, unselfishness, patience. Joy, happiness, and numberless blessings have come to me through the right application of this wonderful truth.
After wearing glasses for thirty-five years, I was able to lay them aside. When I had been interested in Christian Science but a short time, I also laid aside a brace worn for spinal trouble, which doctors called a displacement of the fifth vertebra. This was overcome through my reading an article in the Christian Science Sentinel for May 24, 1930, called, "Be not afraid." It gave me the inspiration and courage to take off the brace, for it convinced me that my strength and support were indeed coming from God, and that I could lean upon Him alone with the absolute assurance of complete safety. I am grateful to say that this healing has been permanent. Sciatica and many other discordant conditions have also disappeared.
