Topic: Church Services

[J. T. McKissick, in the Christian Standard, Cincinnati, Ohio]

I go [to church] because I need to go. ... Right environment helps mightily in the inner warfare for the subjection of evil. At church we hear ... what is good. The singing is uplifting; on the wings of sacred song the soul soars Godward. At church I see others of my fellows battling with the same problems and seeking the same victories; I lose any feeling of apartness I may have, and feel that I am among my kith and kin.

The teaching we have at church is a deterrent of evil. Who can say what crimes are prevented by the wholesome moral instruction we hear at church? Evil is held in leash and good is nurtured by the preaching of the Word.
