In humility, and with sincere gratitude to God and to our...
In humility, and with sincere gratitude to God and to our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, I wish to testify to the healing power of Christian Science.
Some years ago I was suffering from a severe breakdown, which material means had failed to remedy. The condition had become chronic and I was compelled to lead the life of a semi-invalid. A friend who was interested in Christian Science asked if she might send me a copy of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and I agreed to read the book. As a result of mistaken religious teachings, I seemed unable to grasp its logic, and thought it incoherent and contradictory; but having promised to read it, and with the faint hope that it might help me, I persevered, though I did so in a spirit of criticism and skepticism. Despite this, the healing started and continued steadily till at the end of a fortnight I was able to lead a normal life. This healing bears testimony to Mrs. Eddy's statement (Science and Health, p. 209), "Neither philosophy nor skepticism can hinder the march of the Science which reveals the supremacy of Mind."
Since that time, the truths contained in this wonderful book have been gradually unfolding to me, and through its teachings I am learning to rely more on divine Principle and less on the material senses, gaining a clearer understanding of God and of man as His expression.
