It is with gratitude for the testimonies in the periodicals, which I have long enjoyed, that I add mine. I was considered a very frail girl, and after my marriage I was even more delicate. Following a winter in Florida, in the hope that a change of climate might be beneficial, I went to a hospital for an operation. The doctors pronounced my trouble to be tubercular glands, and gave me no hope of healing. Finding I was not much better after the operation, I spent the next winter in California. Although I was under the care of able physicians, who did all they could for me, I was extremely nervous and afraid to be alone for a moment. Hot Springs was recommended, where I spent a month trying to live up to the rules of hygiene practiced there, but to no avail. I then returned home, resolved to take up the study of Christian Science, which had been presented to me several times by a dear friend.

From the first day I started to read Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, I knew I had found the truth I had always wanted. I thought, Why, I have always believed this! I immediately began the daily study of the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly; and after three days' study I had my first demonstration of Truth. My heart had troubled me for some time, and when an attack came upon me, a verse from the Bible contained in the Lesson came to me very clearly, "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear." Immediately my heart became normal, and such a sense of peace came over me that I knew I had found the Christ, which heals all our diseases. From then on I continually applied the truth, as we are taught to do in our textbook. I was healed of the heart trouble, also of chronic indigestion, constipation for which I had used material means for years, extreme fear and nervousness, headaches, colds, grippe, a sprained ankle, and the tubercular trouble. By the end of the year I was completely healed and had gained thrity-five pounds. Previously I had weighed only ninety-three pounds. My healings came through the study of the Bible, Science and Health and Mrs. Eddy's other writings, and the periodicals, for I had no treatments. These healings took place thirty years ago and have been permanent.

My first year in Science was a very happy one, because I was continually working out problems and getting results that sometimes surprised me. I seemed to be on the mountaintop. Since that time I have had to work my way up out of the valley many times.
