Teaching and Exemplifying

Someone has said that the highest art is the art of molding human lives. Many of us have felt something of this when we have taken our places as teachers in the Christian Science Sunday School, and have seen the happy, eager faces of the pupils awaiting the unfolding of the lessons of Truth.

Statements of Truth hearten and encourage us; we like to talk about good, but we may have difficulty in explaining to the child the nature of error so that he will understand how to defend himself from it.

A child who attended a Christian Science Sunday School had developed a tendency to tell what might be described as little lies. On being questioned about the matter, she replied, "Oh, I'm God's child." She seemed utterly oblivious of the need to correct the error. Further questioning revealed the fact that she had not understood the nature of evil and the right way to overcome it, but had regarded error as some elusive thing to be passed over lightly.
