Signs of the Times

The people of this generation are apt to think that the confused and revolutionary spirit abroad in the world today is something new in history. It may be in its dimensions, but certainly not in spirit. From ancient days nations have gone through material and moral depressions. The messages of the Hebrew prophets were directed to meet similar situations. The ancient prophet Jeremiah is known more to the average man today for his weeping ... than for his wisdom, but he was a wise and courageous prophet. ...

There is only one thing in the world that will assure us of peace, and that is righteousness. When the races earnestly seek righteousness, peace will blossom just like the almond branch that inspired a great prophet, for peace is a flower and a fruit issuing from the root of righteous living and just dealings with men and nations. This is the needed awakening of our day, and only just as we are aroused to this fact can we ever hope for a peaceful world.
