It is gratitude which makes us want to give our joyful thoughts of healing to others and that inspires me to write this testimony. Many times I have been strengthened by reading the testimonies in the Sentinel.

Over three years ago I was suddenly taken seriously ill. I consulted a doctor, but he was seemingly at a loss to diagnose the case, so I then interviewed a specialist. He said he thought I had a hidden goiter, but as I was in a very low state, he did not wish to operate without holding a consultation with some of the other specialists. So I was taken to a public hospital and put under observation. A number of the most prominent specialists very kindly gave me considerable attention but varied in their opinions. The general summing up was teeth, heart, and thyroid or goiter trouble, chronic toxemia, constipation, nerves, and general low condition. Time dragged slowly by, until nine months had passed without anything actually being done to assist my recovery. Although very fearful, I did a lot of thinking during the latter part of those nine months, and came to the conclusion that if I was ever to get out of a sickbed I needed something much higher than theories and opinions, no matter how kindly these were given.

At this stage a friend recommended that I try Christian Science, and immediately I felt that this was just what I wanted, although I did not know the first thing about it. My friend lent me the book "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and from the reading of this I received an immediate healing of constipation, and within a few weeks the dyspepsia entirely disappeared. During this time I received help from a Christian Science practitioner, and was enabled to get about sufficiently to go back to my position, which had been held open for me. But I felt far from well, as the other conditions did not seem to yield so readily, in spite of untiring help from the practitioners. I decided to strike out on my own and trust entirely to God to give me understanding, and although I went through some fiery trials, this step seemed to strengthen me, and through radical reliance on God and persistent study of Mrs. Eddy's works the other conditions began to leave me one by one. With each victory I became stronger, my understanding of God increased, and I was spiritually uplifted. Bad moral conditions, conditions, as drinking, smoking, and gambling, also left me.
