Signs of the Times

[Rev. Stephen C. Clark, Jr., as quoted in the Star-News, Pasadena, California]

Jesus Christ suggested that the greatest test of love was to be willing to give one's life for another. That may be the greatest test, but one of the most difficult ones is not to be willing to lay down one's life for others, but to live it in the Christlike way for them. That is the true thought in walking in Christ's love.

When we think of that we must be willing to give up all those things which hinder. Paul names them in a long and unpleasant category. And the same are present today. ... Be not partakers with them, but having come from darkness into light, walk as children of light in love. If we have the love of God in our hearts, we have found something of real value, and if we continue to practice walking in that love, we become the conquerors of ... our material and earthly environment, and more and more like the Christ whose name we bear.
