In sincere gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me and for my family I accept this privilege of telling of some of the benefits we have derived from the study of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

All my life I had been considered very delicate, and I never knew what it was to be well. Also my three daughters were weak and ailing. At the time Christian Science was presented to me things were at their worst, for I was attending a tuberculosis dispensary with my youngest daughter, who was suffering from that complaint. At first I would have nothing to do with this Science, but a few weeks later, in desperation, I inquired about it and asked for some literature regarding it. I also asked this friend to accompany me to the nearest church, and I shall never forget the peace that came to me during the service. When I entered the building, I was impressed by the text on the wall, "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health, p. 494). After attending this meeting I borrowed a copy of the textbook. At first I set out to study it in order to help the children, for in my ignorance I thought I was too far gone to get any benefit, as my heart was very weak.

I had been studying diligently for a month, and one morning I was impressed by the word "confident," so I took a Bible concordance and turned to this word in the twenty-seventh Psalm. I saw so clearly that my enemies were my own wrong thoughts, and that, although "an host" of wrong thoughts "should encamp against me," they would have no power, that my heart need not fear, and in this should "I be confident." The Psalm closes with the words, "Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord." I found I was completely healed, and for twelve years I have enjoyed good health. My youngest daughter was healed of tuberculosis through the help of a practitioner.
